Information
The statutes available on this website are current through the 89th 2nd Called Legislative Session, 2025. The constitutional provisions found on this website are current through the amendments approved by voters in November 2025.

Please note that the Texas Secretary of State maintains the Administrative Code.
The home page includes multiple ways to search and view specific statutes in the Texas Constitution and codes:

The ‘Site Information’ panel provides details about statute availability.

The ‘Search Options’ panel has three tabs that to help find statutes:

The ‘Select Statute’ tab allows a user to choose codes, chapters, sections, or articles from a list. The selected section will open in a statute viewer window below the search fields.

The ‘Find Statute’ tab allows a user to manually enter a section number after selecting a code. This is useful for finding a specific statute quickly. The manually entered value must match a section or article designation exactly. The selected section will open in a statute viewer window below the search fields.

The ‘Search’ tab allows a user to enter a word or phrase and select a chapter that contains the searched term. Chapters that include the searched term will appear under the search form, sorted by code and displayed in groups of twenty-five. Clicking on a chapter title will open a statute viewer window with the selected chapter text in a new browser tab, and the site will scroll to the first instance of the search term that is found in that chapter. You can use the browser’s search function to find other instances of the search term. Search terms are highlighted for quick location.

The ‘Texas Constitution and Statutes’ panel lists the Constitution and codes. Clicking on the arrow to the left of the code name will expand the document to display the structure of the code and chapter headings. Users can click on a chapter heading to display the text or click on the arrow to expand the sections under each chapter. Clicking on the title text of a section opens a statute viewer window with the statute text in a new browser tab.

The ‘Search by Date’ page allows a user to search and view a statute section as it appeared in the past or will appear on a future date. Entering a date in the past or future will filter the chapter and sections available for selection. The selected statute will appear below the form and will reflect the language of the statute as it existed on the date entered. Users can click the button that displays today’s date to see the present statute language if the section is currently available. Click the Reset button to clear the form.

Users can share and download chapter text as PDF, Word documents, or HTML files. These options are available on the ‘Download Statutes’ page by clicking on the download icon in the header bar, or by selecting one of the sharing options from the statute viewer window menu. The file options on the Download Statutes page are a “Full Code PDF,” which is a single file that includes all chapters, and “Zipped” chapter files that include individual chapter files for a single code within a zip archive. The ‘Share’ menu in the statute viewer window allows users to copy the URL of the chapter or section currently displayed within the viewer, and to download the chapter text as a PDF, HTML, or Word file.

The ‘Toggle Light and Dark Theme’ control allows a user to choose between dark text on a light background default style, and a light text on a dark background style for the site.

The statute viewer window has additional options to adjust the statute text. Users can change the font style to serif (Courier New) or sans serif (Verdana) by using the font style menu selector. Users can cycle between small, medium, and large font size by clicking on the toggle font size button . Clicking the up-arrow button will scroll the text back to the beginning of the chapter.
